A hack that resulted in about 800 thousand email addresses and over 1.8 million usernames and passwords, a social website of Germany blazed with a fine of 20,000 Euros against Data protection rule from German Data Protection Authority.
In early 2018, the Knuddels.de faced a data breach, and the stolen information was published online in a clear form. The staff member at Knuddels.de said all the users’ data at the time of incident got affected whoever have accounts on the website.
Another team member said that once 330,000 leaked email addresses were identified all those affected are warned to reset their passwords immediately.
Investigations revealed that the website is not following any security accreditations for the protection of sensitive information all the login details are stored in plain text.
But, the German Data Protection Authority said that Knuddels.de shown the sense of responsibility in applying transparency and implementing security updates this is why their fine was low.
